News

1st November 2019

VARC (Visual Arts in Rural Communities) Artist in Residence, Sam Douglas, worked with all pupils from Bellingham Middle School together with their parents, carers and grandparents, in a community Draw Together event. Pupils were challenged to work with charcoal and pastels to create large scale landscapes, taking inspiration from their beautiful rural location. International artist, Sam Douglas, the current artist in residence at Highgreen, Tarset, inspired the children with his wonderfully detailed representations of the Northumberland landscape. Children commented that “colourful pastels helped to show the beauty of the landscape” and “working with Sam was an amazing opportunity”.
